Intercultural Mentor Program (IMP)

 

Each semester new international students from different countries join MTU.  Many come to the United States only day or weeks before they start of the semester.

Often they experience:

CULTURE SHOCK
HOME SICKNESS
LONELINESS
NEW ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT STRESS

International Programs and Services (IPS) is launching an Intercultural Mentor Program to assist new international students in their adjustment to new academic environment and culture.  This program involves a team of student and community volunteers who devote their time, energy and efforts to facilitate the new international students’ cultural adjustment process.  The program is offered in Fall and Spring semesters.
